Edinburgh
Castle
Only
30 minutes drive from Powfoulis Hotel you'll find Edinburgh
Castle. Scotlands most famous castle stands high above Princes Street
in Edinburgh. The original castle dates back to the 14th Century and
is now home to the Crown Jewels, Stone of Destiny and of course Edinburghs
grand Tattoo.

Those
who have visited Edinburgh will know there is nothing quite like the
One O'clock gun to let you know it's time for lunch. The gun is fired
every day without fail at 1300 hours and can be heard for miles around.
Guided
tours are available from the castle stewards and also via audio equipment
(available in several languages). Adults=£3, Concessions=£2
and Child=£1.
When
visiting the castle it's well worth taking an afternoon stroll up the
Royal Mile. This truely historic street is packed with stunning
achitecture, traditional pubs and Scottish gift shops as well as the
many street entertainers you'll pass on the journey.
Don't
forget to take a walking ghost tour in the evening. The Royal Mile has
many ghostly locations and there are several tour companies only to
happy to show you the spooky sites.
